Needing Some Care

I love my dog and want to keep her healthy and alive.

— John —

It is one of life’s greatest joys when we open our homes and hearts to a new furry companion! John was able to experience this joy when a beautiful Heeler pup wandered into his home one day. With an open heart, John took in this pup 8 years ago and gave her the name of Amy. A beautiful dog with a playful spirit, Amy keeps John company during his retirement.

Amy is also adventurous, and after one of her outings, John noticed with concern that she was bleeding and lethargic. He immediately took her to the Pet Specialists of Monterey for care and discovered she had a sepsis virus that was causing her internal damage. Without treatment, Amy’s life could be in the balance to fight off this bacterial infection. Living on a fixed income, John had already paid over $1,000 toward care when he reached out to Max’s Helping Paws to ensure Amy continued to get healthy. He let us know, “I have already paid as much as I can contribute. I love my dog and want to keep her healthy and alive, that is why I am applying to help me in this time of need. I am on a tight budget and do not know where else to get help.”

So often, when our beloved companion’s are sick, we feel overwhelmed and only want the next best thing to see them healthy again. At Max’s, we understand the concern and heartache that can accompany these situations and our goal is to offer financial assistance so a pet never needs to suffer if treatment is an option. Thanks to partners such as The Doris Day Foundation and AWAG, we are able to be the financial lifeline for pets such as Amy and their owners, offering the hope needed during already difficult times.

Amy was able to receive the medications needed to fight off the sepsis, beginning the first phase of healing for this beautiful pup who still has many years ahead of her! Our hearts are with you Amy and John!
