Max the Mighty

Work got slow and I got laid off. I just want to help Max.

— Jeff —

A white German Shepherd is a rare site indeed! When Jeff met Max 3 years ago, the two fell immediately into a perfect companionship. From walks and play time to evenings relaxing at home, this dog and his person have been a fantastic pair.

In mid-February, Jeff began noticing Max was not behaving in his usual manner. He described him as “acting sad, moving slow, not eating and even vomitting.” Having lost his job due to COVID-related closures, making ends meet each month had become a constant challenge for Jeff. Recognizing his pal Max needed to be seen by a veterinarian, he reached out to Max’s Helping Paws to ensure his beloved companion received treatment.

Fortunately, with our Diagnostic Program, financial assistance is available for just such situations when qualified applicants request aid. Max was able to be seen at the Monterey Peninsula Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Center, where he was examined, provided appropriate medications and had testing done to ensure his illness was not a long term condition.

Thanks to Jeff acting on behalf of Max immediately, these two best buds were able to return home together after the veterinary visit. After rest and recovery, Max has been able to bounce back to his normal happy and healthy self once again.
